Department of Cardiology

The Cardiology Department at CSH provides outpatient services, non -invasive testing, acute cardiac care and a variety of interventional procedures. Our highly skilled and internationally trained cardiologists provide 24X7 cardiac emergency care to patients presenting with angina (chest pain), heart attacks, arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm), heart failure and heart valve disorders.

The Coronary Care Unit

The Coronary Care Unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art continuous cardiac monitoring system with a central monitoring unit capable of storing and retrieving patients’ vital data anytime.
  • The CCU caters to all cardiac emergencies
  • Post-cardiac catheterization care.
  • Care of patient’s pre and post angioplasty.
  • Monitoring of patients post-pacemaker and defibrillator implantation.
  • Management of patients with various kinds of arrhythmias.
  • Administration of thrombolytic, inotropic, or antiarrhythmic medications.
  • Care of patients with Intra aortic balloon pump (IABP)
  • Has provision for temporary pacing and invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
  • A stand-by portable 2D Echo machine is available in the unit 24X7.

Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Canadian Specialist Hospital is the only hospital in the region that has dual-plane, whole-body cath-lab visualization equipment. This unique state-of-the-art technology allows the cardiologists to see the heart, veins and arteries in two views simultaneously which helps to reduce the procedure duration and contrast volume.

The lab houses a state-of-the-art procedure room equipped to perform numerous heart and blood vessel imaging studies and treatments. In addition, we have fully monitored recovery rooms for post-procedure care.

Coronary Angiography, Angioplasty and Stenting:

Coronary Angiography is a procedure that involves direct imaging of the heart arteries by injecting contrast agents into these arteries to detect blockages.

This department specializes in treating blockages in heart arteries using balloons and the placement of stents (Angioplasty). The Philips biplane system provides impeccable image quality with minimal radiation exposure to both the operator and the patient.

The non-invasive cardiology department at the Canadian Specialist Hospital provides the following services:

Outpatient Services

We run outpatient cardiology clinics six days a week, from 9 am to 8 pm for consultation and follow-ups.

Our cardiologists have the expertise and experience to handle any kind of cardiac emergency and to treat cardiac diseases on par with international standards.

The department of Cardiology provides complete and 24X7 cardiac care. This includes both elective and emergency care provided by doctors of the highest quality supported by state-of-the-art equipment. Apart from a consultation for all kinds of Cardiac ailments and preventive cardiac measures, the unit provides comprehensive non-invasive as well as invasive services.

Our cardiology outpatients department provides the following services:

  • Stress Testing - Exercise ECG stress testing to look for as well as rule out blockages of heart arteries.
  • Tilt table testing - For diagnosing fainting disorders.

Patient care is provided based on the following criteria:

  • The complexity of the patient’s condition and required nursing care.
  • Dynamics of patient’s status, including the frequency with which they need for specific nursing care activities changes.
  • Type of technology employed in providing nursing care.
  • Degree of supervision required by each nursing staff member based on her/his assessed level of competence.
  • Relevant infection control and safety issues.
  • Cultural considerations.
